PEVENSEY BEACH HOUSE - EAST SUSSEX, UK
The site fronts directly onto Pevensey Beach with panoramic far reaching views over Normans bay. The brief was to update and modernise the existing 1960's dwelling and site on a constrained budget. MELOY architects successfully gained planning permission for the distinct design which updated the property in its entirety.
The original form of the house was extended to the south with a full width sliding glazed facade at the level of the beach and inset balcony to the master bedroom above. An additional guest bedroom with ensuite bathroom has also been created above the original garage.
Referencing an industrial aesthetic within the context of the site, both the house and garage annexe are wrapped in corrugated mill finished aluminium sheeting with western red cedar clad ends. The landscaping is an extension of the shingle beach allowing wild plants to inhabit the site
